关于Stryper的名字:

乐队也经常把黑黄相间的图案弄在身上和LOGO上,以及他们的专辑上.他们对于他们队名Stryper的解释是:
"Salvation Through Redemption, Yielding Peace, Encouragement, and Righteousness."

Foundation and mainstream success
The Sweet兄弟俩于1975年,经Jimmy Swaggart加入了基督教,此人日后也帮助乐队制作其中的键盘部分.

Foundation and mainstream success
The Sweet兄弟俩是乐队的主心骨, Michael Sweet是主唱,吉他, Robert Sweet是鼓手,之后,又接受了Scott Lane作为乐队的主音吉他(不久就离开了), "Stryper" 是贝斯Tim Gaines想出来的.是因为Robert Sweet在玩一个游戏时穿着黑黄相间的条纹衣服(Stryper就是条纹的意思).之后,乐队在84年7月10号发行的EP The Yellow and Black Attack时,就是用的这个黑黄相间的条纹图案(事实上他们现场穿的衣服也是这种图案,个人觉得很恶心,像大黄蜂,bumblebee?呵呵).在这段时间,乐队为Ratt,Bon Jovi这样的乐队暖场.
85年5月15号,乐队的第一张专辑, Soldiers Under Command 发行了,为乐队赢得了一张金唱片.乐队的第一张唱片就是很成功的,这样唱片公司Enigma大受鼓舞,并把乐队的第一张EP The Yellow and Black Attack 加入了两首新曲子(原来这张EP只卖掉了2万张拷贝),并在86年8月10号发行(The Yellow and Black Attack算乐队的第二张专辑).
